Hi,
Thank you to all of you who continue to support us and keep up on where we are at. We appreciate you reading and we don't want to lose you. However, we have moved our blog to a new site that will better suit us with AIM.
Please go to this new site and bookmark this new page instead of this one.

We will leave this blog up for a little while as we transition still. :)

Without a house.
I hated grammar school English. I never understood it. Even though I am supposed to be teaching my kids what a preposition is I still really have no idea. One concept that I did like was foreshadowing. It was always interesting how an author could give the reader glimpses of what was going to happen.
Well, my last post was about our kids play house. It seems fitting that the very next day we would be facing giving something up ourselves.
We went to the beach yesterday. I love the beach. It is my place to go and see the mighty power of God. Yesterday, was a great reminder of it. The waves were so huge that the lifeguards had kicked all the kids out of the water. There was amazing power in the waves. It was very scary having 6 kids running around. (I actually thanked the lifeguard for making my job a bit easier and less stressful by kicking the kids out of the water.)
After being at the beach, we had to make a trip back to our "real" house. We have it rented right now which is amazing in itself. However, we have a little bit of storage there and we needed some camping items for camping at Lake Tahoe in a few weeks. So, we decided to stop by the house and pick up some things.
We moved out of our dream house 6 months ago. It is what we had always wanted. A small farm, a bit of land, rural area, great neighborhood, close to family. It is a great home to raise a family. We knew that there were things that we would miss. I miss being able to milk my goats to start each day. I miss the crow of the rooster. I miss being able to send the kids outside to play for long periods of time. However, we have loved being in the middle of the city and having a new place to explore. We love that we can walk a block and a half and get frozen yogurt with the kids on a hot evening.
Driving back there last night was very hard though. The country side was more beautiful than I remembered it. The farms in the area all looked so healthy and good. The sunset that I used to see daily was amazingly beautiful. I have gone back to the house a few times over the last few months and it wasn't this hard.
Maybe it was the sunset.
Maybe it was the goats crying.
Maybe it was the smell of garlic.
Maybe it was the chickens clucking.
Maybe it was the beauty of all the colors.
Maybe it was all of it together. But, something got a hold of us and we both realized how hard it is right now. Maybe it was seeing renters in "our" house. Maybe it was knowing that we still need to find a house to live in for a few months. Maybe it was the uncertainty of it all. Maybe it was the kids asking when we will move back to our "old" home.
Through it all we shall praise His name. We shall trust that God cares for our family and plans to use us for His glory. So, we look forward to where He is taking us. We realize that the road is not always easy, but it is good. Resting in God's will is good and right where we want to be.

Saying goodbye to the Barbie house
Our kids get to do many fun things. We just took them to Disneyland for a few days and they were spoiled there and had tons of fun. Our kids have more than most. So toys are often recycled and passed on while new toys come. They each were able to buy a toy or two at Disneyland. However, as we prepare to leave for Kenya there are some things that are just really hard for them to say goodbye to.
Today, it was their barbie house. It was a gift for London and Geneva a few years ago and they loved playing with it. It has been taken over by their younger siblings Capri and Yosef lately, but to London and Geneva, it was still theirs. It was just in the next room.
We had talked about giving the house away and the fact that we can't pack it in a box and take it to Kenya. We had talked about the fact that they are giving the house to a cute little girl who is going to play with it for a few years and love it as much as they did. But, when the day finally came where we needed to remove it from the room and take it to my niece's it was HARD.
There is a loss there and they realize it. They are feeling some of the hardships of their parents decision. They are beginning to realize sooner than most that following Jesus means giving other things up.
In the end, we gave the house up, though it wasn't easy. Tears were shed, but smiles started to creep across their faces as they saw their cousin begin to play with it. It is hard for us to see them hurting but we know that God is glorified in it. We know that some day, we will stand before our God worshipping Him with our Digo friends and the Barbie house will long be forgotten.
